Model Austin Armacost Urges Gay Designers to Leave Fur Behind

Male model and gay US television personality Austin Armacost is asking all fur hags to throw their skins out of the closet. The 24-year-old appears in a brand-new naked anti-fur campaign for PETA..

"As a gay model", Armacost says, "I have always been dismayed that some otherwise progressive people in the gay fashion pack have such disregard for the animals who are skinned alive for coats, collars or cuffs – including my ex Marc Jacobs". In addition to Marc Jacobs, fashion designers Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier and Julien MacDonald all unfortunately continue to use fur in their lines.

Fur-bearing animals suffer unimaginably in the name of fashion. Many are caught in cruel traps, in which they can languish for days, starving and enduring excruciating pain. Some, especially mothers with babies, chew through their own limbs in a desperate attempt to escape.

You can help! Watch Tim Gunn's video exposé of the fur industry and then join Austin Armacost and PETA in urging the gay designers mentioned above to turn their back on fur.
