'KILLER' KATE FORD OF 'CORONATION STREET' BARES ALL FOR BEARS

Kate Ford for PETA

In 2007, the nation watched in suspense as Coronation Street character Tracy Barlow – played by actor Kate Ford – was found guilty of murdering Charlie Stubbs and sent to prison. Now, with the character's return to Weatherfield, we're sure that there will be more evil afoot. There's one type of crime that Kate doesn't agree with, however, and that's killing bears for The Queen's Guards' ceremonial caps.

Kate – who was named "Best Bitch" by the British Soap Awards in both 2004 and 2005 – knows that it can take the entire hide of one bear to make just one cap. She is no stranger to PETA and has spoken out against fur by posing in a previous PETA ad also shot by celebrity photographer Karl Grant.

Kate is the latest in a long list of celebrities – including Pamela Anderson, Sadie Frost, Mary McCartney, Twiggy, Julian Clary, Roger Moore, Lucy Davis and Jamie Bamber – who have condemned the slaughter of black bears for ceremonial headpieces.

Read PETA's interview with Kate here.

Join Kate and thousands of other compassionate people in calling for a humane alternative to The Queen's Guards' bearskin caps by signing the petition below.

Help Save Bears

Instead of financially supporting the shameful slaughter of black bears for The Queen's Guards' ceremonial caps, Great Britain should set a compassionate example by switching to a humane, progressive alternative and by making a commitment to end the killing of black bears.
