Tamara Ecclestone Tells the Naked Truth About Foie Gras

Gorgeous Italian Formula 1 Sky TV presenter and daughter of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, Tamara Ecclestone has posed for a new PETA ad with the tagline “The Naked Truth: Foie Gras Is Torture in a Tin”.

Tamara Ecclestone: The Naked Truth

Tamara knows that to produce foie gras, ducks and geese are force-fed by having metal pipes shoved down their throats. Corn mush is pumped into their stomachs two or three times a day every day for weeks.

“As you can imagine, this is frightening and extremely distressing for the birds”, Tamara states in her interview with PETA. “The pipes sometimes puncture their throats, causing severe injuries that make it painful or even impossible for them to drink. As a result of the force-feeding the birds’ livers become diseased and painfully enlarged, swelling to as much as 10 times their normal size.”

As PETA’s ambassador on the issue, Ecclestone wants everyone to know that foie gras (French for “fatty liver”) is the grossly enlarged liver of a duck or a goose. To make foie gras, workers ram metal pipes down birds’ throats and pump pounds of mash into their stomachs several times a day.

Ecclestone also fired off letters to all Formula 1 team sponsors, giving them the grisly details of what she calls “torture in a tin” and urging them to ditch foie gras forever. We have already received enthusiastic responses from Virgin Racing, Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing, Allianz SE and Michael Schumacher’s team, Mercedes GP – all of which have agreed never to serve foie gras again. After reading about how ducks and geese are cruelly treated to make this wretched “fancy food”, brilliant engine maker Cosworth said that it, too, wants nothing more to do with the nasty stuff.

This isn’t the first time the delectable Tamara has bared all for animals – she previously starred in a hugely popular ad against fur.

How can you help? Never eat foie gras and remember to speak out if you see it on sale. You can also use our template letter to send to restaurants if you see them serving foie gras.
