Tamara Ecclestone: PETA's Winning Formula Against Foie Gras
Tamara Ecclestone, daughter of Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, has the ideal formula for success: beauty, intelligence and compassion. It was the latter that drove Ecclestone to bare all to reveal the naked truth behind foie gras in a sizzling ad for PETA. And when she bought one of her father's favourite pubs in Knightsbridge, her first order of business as a restaurateur was to ban foie gras from the menu.

Tamara's Drive to Get 'Fatty Liver' off Event Menus
As PETA's ambassador on the issue, Ecclestone wants everyone to know that foie gras (French for "fatty liver") is the grossly enlarged liver of a duck or a goose. To make foie gras, workers ram metal pipes down birds' throats and pump pounds of mash into their stomachs several times a day. Ecclestone also fired off letters to all Formula 1 team sponsors, giving them the grisly details of what she calls "torture in a tin" and urging them to ditch foie gras forever. We have already received enthusiastic responses from Virgin Racing, Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing, Allianz SE and Michael Schumacher's team, Mercedes GP – all of which have agreed never to serve foie gras again. After reading about how ducks and geese are cruelly treated to make this wretched "fancy food", brilliant enginemaker Cosworth said that it, too, wants nothing more to do with the nasty stuff.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be an ambassador for PETA's campaign to stop the sale of foie gras – something I call 'torture in a tin' because of how ducks and geese are force-fed to produce it", says Ecclestone. "I'm working my way through my list of all the Formula 1 teams and sponsors, asking them to pledge that they will not serve this horrifically cruel food at any of their events. As soon as the new season gets underway, I'll be dashing around the paddock having a word with any teams or sponsors that haven't gotten back to me yet and blowing kisses to those who are 'on track'!"

So Cruel, It's Criminal
Approximately 2 kilograms of grain, maize and fat are pumped into the stomachs of ducks and geese several times per day on filthy foie gras farms. As a result, the birds' livers swell to up to 10 times their normal size, and the animals become sick and are often unable to move. Many birds sit shaking, dreading their next "feeding". The hard pipes often puncture birds' throats, causing bloody wounds. Death rates among birds who suffer ruptured organs are high.
Pledge to Leave Foie Gras off Your Plate
I pledge never to purchase, eat or recommend to friends the vile product known as foie gras, which is produced by force-feeding ducks and geese until their livers grow painfully large and swollen.
